The Fae Order

Long ago, all of the intelligent races lived in small nomadic tribes of no more than sixty people. Settling for long periods of time would have quickly depleted all nearby resources, and most likely resulted in the tribe being sniffed and hunted by monsters too great and terrible to kill.

Time marched on, and like-minded yet all-independently developed ideas prevailed across Kuroshi, which would give birth to the first agricultural revolution. Animals were bred in captivity, seeds were stored and grown, and settlements were made to watch over the crops and livestock. Life was forever changed and civilisation in all of its complexities grew inexorably.

The peak of this agricultural revolution, coupled with the sudden fluctuation in such disposed humanoids' populations drew a stark contrast between them and the naturalistic elves, faeries and the creatures that they watched over. In Achahtai, these two factions became known as “The Monarchist Dominion of Achahtai” and “The Fae Order of Achahtai.”

The industrious people of Galorvia succeeded in conquering all of their lands, driving their elves into the oceans where they mutated into the aquatic Oran Elves, guardians of the now Ograch Ocean, where they organised a new society under The Ograch High Council.

In Achahtai, the struggle between the Monarchist Dominion and The Fae Order raged on for much longer. Over time, it proved impossible for Achahtai to fight this civil war and also defend itself from foreign invasions, and thus a once begrudging alliance was formed between them. Eventually, word of this alliance travelled into The Ograch Oceans as well, forging Achahtai a further alliance with the elves who rule the sea, providing that everyone keeps to the agreements, which currently proceed more-or-less as follows.

The Ograch High Council, residing in the sea, The Monarchist Dominion in Achahtai's cities and The Fae Order of its forest land shall protect, advise and co-operate with each-other in war. In the event that one of these powers discovers a fugitive of the other within their territory, that power is obligated to turn the fugitive in to the aggrieved power or punish them locally as appropriate.

The Monarchist Dominion may keep all of its presently standing roads and settlements, regarding them as their own land. Every effort shall be made by The Fae Order to keep stray beasts away from such paths and settlements.

Achahtai's Forestland is considered to be The Fae Order's territory. There is an open border between these territories, however, different laws apply in within each:

Firstly, peoples of The Monarchist Dominion may not settle anywhere in the forest land without express permission from The Fae Order.

Secondly, it is illegal for citizens of The Monarchist Dominion to hunt and forage in The Forestlands. Military personal are granted an exception to this rule.

Citizens of The Monarchist Dominion can migrate to and live under The Fae Order, however, they still cannot settle as they please without a permit and would thus do best to join a pre-existing forest tribe. Such migrated citizens of The Fae Order shall be delivered frequent lists, telling them what may and may not be foraged and hunted, in order to keep all of the forest's inhabitants far from exploitation and extinction.

In return for the right to hunt animals, The Fae Order shall demand that a correlating number of tribes' people (often infants) be given over to them and raised by the elves and faeries to become one of “The Wild Ones.”

It is loosely accepted that creatures will kill people and people will kill creatures. If extinction and exploitation becomes an issue for either party, however, The Fae Order will step in. Adherence to The Fae Order's morals is met with gifts. Consistent failure to uphold these morals results in death.

The Wild Ones live exactly as the elves of the forest do, often nomadic and living in perfect harmony with nature. The migrated citizens and their lineages are not so perfect in this regard, but they follow the rules adequately, demonstrate The Fae Order's good will to The Monarchist Dominion and they provide The Fae Order with a variety of species to also lead by example by becoming Wild Ones.

The agreement between The Monarchist Dominion and the Ograch High council is far less complicated, as neither would have much desire to settle in each-other's territories. Their two conditions are solely that The Monarchist Dominion only fish in approved numbers and in approved places, and that they maintain a strong relationship with The Fae Order of Achahtai, as The Ograch Elves are striving towards the same goals as The Fae Orders, except that Ogran live under water and protect the aquatic life.
