Iechi school is the single most important institution in all of Achahtai. It generates a strong enough military to keep Achahtai fed and safe. Following the murder of Iechi’s former head master at the tail end of the Ahine war, it was decided that Queen Amora should assume his role and take a truly hands-on command of the military.

 

No-one could ever accuse Amora of being a useless queen. When she is not sleeping, she works diligently to hold the country together, strategizes in warfare, attends to the required political matters and manages Iechi School.

 

Amora is ruthless and prepared to do whatever must be done to see Achahtai know prosperity, even resorting to totalitarian control of the media, shady and flimsy alliances, and even making the poorer people run on emptier stomachs just to encourage them to join the military where they might be better fed.

 

Amora made the point that she ought to rule Achahtai by killing its former king. She grew up as a street rat, but by the time she was a teenager, she had herself a successful business and a small manor house. Young Amora used to journey through the dangerous forestlands in search of rare ingredients that would help her make strong hallucinogenic and mood-altering potions. First she sold to the poor, but as she was able to attain better products, she sold to the rich and influential.

 

Amora began attaining lackeys to grab resources for her, sell the potions for her, and even make the potions for her, when she came by a highly advantageous new customer, a vulnerable master enchantress. Upon discovering a way to blackmail her, Amora had her enchant some of her wares so subtly that even the nobles with fine testing devices wouldn’t be able to tell that their mood potions had been tampered with. These subtle enchantments were to make whoever consumes the potion become very easily swayed by suggestions which Amora would use to attain more and more power.

 

By age 21, Amora was a crime lord. She’d pilfered and ready every book from Iechi on how to be a great general, her employees now not only sold mood potions, but would assassinate just about anyone for the right money. The king of Achahtai was proving incompetent both at stopping her and at recovering after the war effort, and so when he was vulnerable, Amora decided that enough was enough.

 

Somehow, at age 22, Amora devised and fully executed a plan to kill the king, and hold the entire country hostage if they didn’t hand the monarchy over to her. As the people slowly wore down, she explained that she could see the dire weakness in Achahtai’s governance. She had been subverting everyone since she was barely a teenager, and watched from the streets as the pitifully fought wars nearly got everybody killed.

 

Amora declared that she had the technique, attitude and ability to see Achahtai not only survive, but eventually win the war for Kuroshi. She has now ruled for over 36o years, blessed with the longer-lasting youth that monarchy can get you. While the nation has come close to falter in that she, she hasn’t failed everyone quite yet, always pulling together a swift recovery, by any means necessary.
